I was just reading Tristero over at Hullabaloo and he said something which set me off. To wit:
“More importantly, given how much political capital Dems have right now, there is only one reason I can think of why this country should tolerate any more of Bush’s clowning: We’re so used to it we can’t think of anything better. But let’s conduct a quick thought experiment: Imagine a presidency where top positions were filled by qualified women and men, not goons so unconditionally loyal they had knee pads surgically attached. “
Bold emphasis by me. Sadly, he then goes off and posts some good stuff about the Bush Crime Family and how Robert Gates, the new Sec of Defense nominee, is nothing more than an old family retainer who can be relied upon to prop Junior up as best he can. Well…even Rove can’t do that anymore.
So what might we come up with if we just threw out all the Pavlovian conditioning that Rove with the help of the Mighty Wurlitzer has tried to imprint on our brains. No big problem for me since as an unpaid blogger I don’t have to contend with what Upton Sinclair so aptly described during out last outbreak of fascist idiotcracy in our nation back in the 30s.
- First, we know things are not going so well in Iraq.
- Second, we know that the current leadership in D.C. under the management of BubbleBoy and DickHead are responsible for this. This is not a subject for debate any longer no matter what Pam or Pillbaugh thinks.
- Third, we know that the American people know this too. How, well we had us an election and as BubbleBoy famously said, ‘Politics has consequences.’
- Fourth, we know that despite the memos from Professor John Woo that the nomination of ‘Bob’ Gates must be approved by the Senate. At least until ‘The Idiot’ says otherwise. Oh, wait he tried that with Bolton and that didn’t work so well did it. Gotta love The Note; they are such dickheads about everything.
So, I propose that we revisit those days of old when Democrats knew what to say and do about a fascist poseur and indulge in some old fashion advise and consent. The advise part would be the Democrats in the Senate telling Bush that no hearings on the Gates nomination will take place until the new congress is seated. Bush can fume and scream but you see the ‘Nuclear Option’ is now off the table ain’t it.
Then when Gates comes before the Senate Armed Services Committee they reject his nomination. He is not really qualified and he will be no solution to the problems our armed forces face. He will be, and Carl Levin should have no problem demonstrating that fact, When ‘The Idiot’ starts spewing about ‘obstructionism’ the Democrats need only say, ‘The American people want change they elected us to start it. Shut up and send us someone who knows what can be done to get us out of Iraq. No Michael Brown’s will be appointed on our watch. Period.’
Now some would say, ‘Throw The Decider the anvil and let him go down’. That’s just wrong. Wrong for our citizens fighting as troops in Iraq, wrong for the Iraqi’s whose country we have destroyed, and wrong politically. Make no mistake, the people will be watching. They elected the folks they elected so that change would begin. Right. Fucking. Now..
So, Senators Biden, Joey, Levin and all the rest of ya.
Ya better come out fightin’
Or we’ll run yer ass of in 2008 and beyond.
The netroots have a looooooooooooong memory.
I, A.Citizen, approved this message.

Time magazine reports that Donald Rumsfeld will be indicted for war crimes. As I posted here this case has been brewing for some time. As I have stated loudly and publicly to for over two years what the Bush administration has done in Iraq and it’s bogus ‘War on Terror’ is patently illegal no matter what it’s tame seals ‘Abu’ Gonzales and John ‘WaterBoard Their Ass’ Woo have argued. Indeed as this passage from the Time story indicates Mr. Gonzales might be ‘visiting’ Berlin soon:
Along with Rumsfeld, Gonzales and Tenet, the other defendants in the case are Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Stephen Cambone; former assistant attorney general Jay Bybee; former deputy assisant attorney general John Yoo; General Counsel for the Department of Defense William James Haynes II; and David S. Addington, Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff. Senior military officers named in the filing are General Ricardo Sanchez, the former top Army official in Iraq; Gen. Geoffrey Miller, the former commander of Guantanamo; senior Iraq commander, Major General Walter Wojdakowski; and Col. Thomas Pappas, the one-time head of military intelligence at Abu Ghraib.
or maybe he’ll just be shipped straight to Scheveningen
So….
BubbleBrain and Pigboy have screwed themselves yet again. Throwing Rummy the Dummy under the bus to distract the Democrats could, could prove to be the biggest tactical error they’ve made yet. Yeah, I know…I know the bar is very high.
But…
How big a font do you think the New York Times, newly on board the anti-war wagon will use to tell the citizens of the United States of America that much of that part of the government charged with defending us against the attacks of Osama bin Laden, Kim Il Sung and the rest of the ‘enemies of democracy’ are no better than those Fascists who served Hitler.
I’d say at least as big as the one they used for 9/11.
And I do think that the American people will care about this. I think they are sick of what Bush and his pack of jackals and hyenas have done out of fear and political calculation.
Understand me here. I am pumped up that this is happening because this is what should happen in a just world. A world with many problems, more vile sick humans doing harm to each other than you can count, and no attention being paid to the destruction of our planet’s ability to support life itself, a world were we must act together to reverse the slide to moral and physical extinction those such as Rumsfeld and the rest listed have done so much to accelerate. A world from which I want to see sick killers such as Rumsfeld removed
I will admit that when this desire of the American people comes to pass I will be doing cartwheels in the streets.
Until then I will be pleased that at least some of those responsible for the vile acts done in my name by my government are going to face judgment.
I truly hope Mr. Rumsfeld enjoys his stay in jail.
It’s liable to last the rest of his life.
