Those of you who know me personally now why that X appears in the title of this post. As a ‘lapsed’, that’s the polite word for it, Catholic I’m not too fond of those I generally name the ‘Xtian Death Cult Zombies’.
Jesus however is a different kettle of fish. He was never more apt and truly human, a lot better that than some vengeful, bloody Jewish Ya-Weh to my way of thinking, than when he said:
‘For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.’
This post isn’t even about ‘giving’ per se rather lending a helping hand to some of the millions of poor who can be found in every country on the globe. This post is about Microfinance a way for anyone with a few bucks to help the poor become more self-sufficient and to do it without involving the vampires of the IMF or the World Bank.
Ran across descriptions of these three organizations in the newspaper today and thought I’d pass along the contact information. This is part of my ‘Prosperity’ post which I am trying to work on at present which you may, or may not, recall is part of my Progressive is Peace, Health and Prosperity meme.
Anyway check these folks out for your Xmas ‘giving’ and let me know what you think if you do get involved in this growing movement to provide progressive help, not charity, to the poor.

Flash Update: I just got a requst for $$$ for the corporatist sellout Rahm Emmanuel so I decided to go on over to teh DCCC website and give him the word on his chutzpah in asking for cash for the collection of ‘Bush Dogs’ he’s so proud of. But….
Yesterday, right-wing icon Rush Limbaugh insulted everyone who has served our nation in uniform.
In an exchange with a caller, he actually called troops who return from Iraq and voice their opposition to the war "phony soldiers."
Where does Rush Limbaugh get the moral standing to pass judgment on our heroes who wore this nation’s uniform and returned to exercise their First Amendment rights? Even for Rush, that’s too far!
Will you join me in calling the following radio stations to demand they take Rush’s show off the air?

I can’t do it justice to simply describe it, so below is the show’s transcript:
CALLER: No, it’s not, and what’s really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media.
LIMBAUGH: The phony soldiers.
CALLER: The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve. They want to be over in Iraq. They understand their sacrifice, and they’re willing to sacrifice for their country.
I’ve talked to lots of real soldiers. My son is a real soldier who signed up for the Air Force after the horrific attacks on September 11th. To suggest that men and women in uniform who serve and return critical of a conflict are "phony" is appalling – and it’s wrong.
This is the latest, and most insulting, in a string of right-wing talking points that insult the sacrifice and commitment made by our military men and women.
Serving in Iraq, knowing the harsh reality of that conflict, earns a soldier the right to be truthful and critical. And it should certainly earn them more respect from a chickenhawk like Rush Limbaugh.
Demand these local stations take the Rush Limbaugh show off the air.

Mittless the Witless shows a fine campaigning style…for a lying Republican member of the uber-rich. This slick-talking waste of skin is the very definition of uber-rich.

If Edwards wins Iowa, a real possibility given The Hill’s concealed negatives, the race will be wide open. The national polling showing Mrs. Lobbyist is not relevant. It’s the primaries stupid!
Miss Nancy and ‘Gutless’ Reid this is how you deal with Republicans. This is how you fire up the base and tell the gotdamn truth to the America People.
I’ve criticized Bill Clinton for many things but my hat is off to him for this. This is the way Democrats need to talk about the criminal scum that are the Republican Party. The Party of Thieves, Liars and Murderers.
Take it and stand by…this capitulation will not be ignored. Action is in the offing. I will keep you posted as to the state of play.

- Lots of good candidates are saying the right things about the Moveon condemnation in the House, but not a lot of incumbents are. As it happens, I was on the Hill today, and it’s stark just how disorganized the Democrats are. Most of them had no guidance on how to vote, and just went on instinct without having seen the amendment. The whip operation was either out to lunch or actively encouraged members to vote for this measure to ‘make it go away’. I could see either conventional wisdom pushing the vote this direction or an explicit Clyburn-Hoyer decision. It doesn’t matter anymore.
Just frikin’ pathetic. ‘..whip operation out to lunch…..’. True Democratic ‘Leadership’….Pelosi? She needs to go along with Hoyer and Emmanuel. Period.
