So folks are asking me….Me! Who I’ll be voting for in the GE. Can’t imagine why anyone wants my opinion on this….

..since mostly my opinions on ’stuff’ tends to piss people off. Well…..

I have not made up my mind yet but here some of the things I’ve been reading while I make up my mind:

Lambert on what Shake’s thinks…..it ain’t pretty if yer a Obama supporter. But…. politics is a bare knuckled sport ya know.

And we do want to know the truth…

Lambert in her own words on Senator ‘Hope’……Whoops….Lambert ‘edited’ a comment wherein I referred to Senator ‘Hope’ as “Lieberman in ‘blackface’”. Like many in the ’sphere Lambert doan
wanna get tarred with the moniker ‘racist’. So sensitive is she that I’ve agreed to not subject myself to her editorial policies. So here instead of a long five page post she wrote about Senator ‘BlackFace’ is Paul Street writing about his ‘book’:

The Audacity of Hope wherein Kos’s choice for President opines that,

‘…respect for Ronald Reagan’s supposed success in embodying what Obama calls “American’s longing for order” (p. 31)?

How about the part where Obama commends “the need to raise money from economic elites to finance elections” for “prevent[ing] Democrats…from straying too far from the center” and for marginalizing “those within the Democratic Party who tend toward zealotry” (p. 38) and “radical ideas” (like peace and justice)?’

or

‘He cites early Americans’ purported faith in “self-reliance,” “hard work,” and “free will” (p. 54)as the source of the early Republic’s “free market” development, ignoring slavery’s role in (a) violating the nation’s proclaimed republican virtues and (b) laying critical capital-accumulationist foundation for the early expansion of the American “free market” empire. He writes warmly of the “grand compromise” (p.75) found in the Constitutional bargain between the Northern and the Southern states – the one that approved and empowered black chattel slavery as the core, defining and federally protected political-economic institution of the U.S. South.

Quotes like these make me real damn glad I read The Defining Moment: FDR’s Hundred Days and the Triumph of Hope A great book about one of the greatest of Americans instead of a lukewarm porridige of bullshit written by a man who has yet to do anything meaningful whatsoever. And of whom, given his published comments on governance and progressive values, I expect to govern, if given the chance, just slightly to the left of Richard Milhouse Nixon. Or worse.

Well guess what/ He’s asking for our help again. Now ’some’ have said, pipe down back there reg_guy you will get yer say in the comments or…ya can even write a post, that Jerry is a ‘Blue Dog’ stab-in-the-backer on the Iraq issue. I’ve said stuff like that myself. So in light of the decisions made at the last steering committee meetup, you weren’t there…you don’t know what we decided…Hmmmmmm…Imagine that, I decided to cruise over to Jer’s blog and check out what he’s saying these days. Get me?

Here’s Jerry on Iraq:

I am firmly in favor of withdrawing troops on a timeline that includes both a definite start date and a definite end date (“date certain”) and uses clearly-defined benchmarks. I am not in favor of an “open-ended” timeline for withdrawal, as some members of Congress have proposed recently.

Pretty plain talk. Read his whole post right here and do read all the comments. You will be glad you did. I will be posting quite a bit on Jerry and other ‘progressive Democrats’ who are trying to get elected opposing either the fascist scum of the ReThuglican Party or like our own Donna Edwards going up against supposed ‘Democrat’ Al Wynn. This thing is going down tomorrow and sad to say I haven’t done enough to get this great young woman into Congress where she can use her brains and skill to advance our progressive agenda. I say we need Jerry right where he is pushing back against the stupidity of the ReichWing out in the Central Valley. He’s a smart guy and he’s fighting a smart fight.
