Who Let the Dogs Out?

May 29, 2008

A great post about just how the corporatist press works; or rather is given it’s marching orders. By way of Anglachel’s Journal we get a quote from Bob Somerby, a blogger I’ve known about for a while but really never got to know, who gives us a real look at just how certain misstatements or other ‘incidents’ become important while others….not so much.

Here’s the leadin paragraph:

‘MEYERSON (5/28/08): Had Florida and Michigan conducted their primaries the way the other 48 states conducted their own primaries and caucuses—that is, in accord with the very clear calendar laid down by the DNC well before the primaries began—then Clinton’s marchers would be utterly justified in their claims. But when the two states flouted those rules by moving their primaries outside the prescribed time frame, the DNC, which gave neither state a waiver to do so, decreed that their primaries would not count and enjoined all presidential candidates from campaigning in those states. Obama and John Edwards complied with the DNC’s dictates by removing their names from the Michigan ballot. Clinton did not.

Seating Michigan in full would mean the party validates the kind of one-candidate election (well, 1.03, to give Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd and Mike Gravel, who also remained on the ballot, their due) that is more common in autocracies than democracies. It would mean rewarding the one serious candidate who didn’t remove her name from the ballot when all her rivals, in deference to the national party rules, did just that.’

Read the whole thing. It’s a little convoluted what, to do with modern politics…or old for that matter, isn’t. Bottom line we have, as many have pointed out, taken on the characteristics of that society we fought for so long. Yes, children I know you think the ‘Commies’ were some imaginary Boomer boogeyman but, in actual fact, they were not. They were a group who thought you could run a society of millions with the same top down authority structure our ancestors used to control a ‘troop’ of around 150 individuals.

You can’t.

But nobody told Cheney, Bush or the Evangelicals so here we are: The few trying without much success to impose their vision of reality on the many.

Not gonna work and it’s very bad juju for us as it’s taking us further down the road to a point of no return. A point where it will be too late to fix things.

Wale up. Smell the Coffee and….

Think for yourself.

Me too Bill….

May 26, 2008

I really thought Democrats wanted to count every citizen’s vote. Wow! What an idiot I am. Have I got that right Mr. Great Orange Satan. Democrats have joined Republican Fascistii
in telling the citizenry, ‘Hey…fuck you we don’t count your vote unless we feel it will get us what we want.’

Have I got that right Mr. ‘BoneHead’ Bowers. I’m to STFU! because Barry is the magical unicorn you’ve been searching for ever since yer folks told you you couldn’t live in the basement
anymore and ya had to get a fukin‘ JOB!

I don’t think so pals.

Man….I luvs me some Courage Campaign…

May 21, 2008

…and this is why:

instead of hysteria about ‘bitches’ and ‘racists’ we get measure thoughtful campaigns such as this from Eden and his crew.

I do have a question for ya though: ‘Do you really think that just sitting on yer backsides and watching TeeBee or lurking in the threads in the ‘sphere is gonna turn the country around?

Yeah, I know….you’ve all got jobs, kids, house payments etc. You are buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssy! Well…did ya ever stop to think that the reason your are so busy is that the uber-rich through their
sockpuppets have appropriated the cabbage, the molah, the frikin’ money to such and extent that there really, really isn’t much ‘left over’ for you and your children. That thought ever cross your mind?

Well it should.

And I really hate to break it to ya but….

It’s gonna get worse. This next ten years will tell the tale. Will the SuperClass and their meatpuppets the Republican and ‘Democrat’ Party be able to finally kill of the will of the people and their representatives, members few though they be of the Democratic Party…progressive orgs like MoveOn.com. the afore mentioned Courage Campaign, folks like this and this and these folks at ActBlue!

It’s really up to you and I will be frank from what I’ve heard lately you are not up to it. People are under the delusion that Barry is gonna win the GE and he will magically transform the existing government almost overnight. This is highly unlikely for many a reason and it’s not my intent to get into it here. If you wanna argue meet me in the comments. And bring you more than a butterknife…it will be a shootout at the OK Corral partner.

This election is gonna be the last wake up call you are gonna get. I highly recommend you not leave it to the Pelosi’s, Emmanuel’s and Schumer’s much less the disappointing Dean and the deranged Brazile to do what is really your job:

Clean House in the House.

In Case You Didn’t Notice….The Gloves are Off!

May 16, 2008

Barry the Glass-Jawed One will be a ‘Dukakis’ of a candidate in the GE. My postition starts from there.

But it doesn’t end there.

Here’s a post about something very important that the corporatist backers, same ones that are behind McSame and The Hill…more about hat next post, want killed for the obvious reasons. The mere fact that Barry the Ignorant is considering such a policy move makes me, a die hard hard science guy, want to ram my boot right up his ass. The poster has it right.

Postpone this project which well I’ll let the poster give you the number, I exaggerate you see…can’t be trusted with The Magic Man and his ‘policy’ stuff, Here yah go:

‘As president you could extract the entire NASA budget from the DoD budget and they wouldn’t even know it was gone, it’s a rounding error. In addition, the space program is the only government program in our nation’s history which can be shown to have paid for itself – in terms of fiscal and medical benefits derived from cutting edge technology which NASA either invented or sponsored.’

You do know what a rounding error is? I doubt me Barry does. And shove that ‘Buh…buh…he was President of the Harvard Law Review….’ crap back up yer ass. Bush is the first President with an MBA and that from Yale. So what. This is not the first time Barry has had trouble with reality. 57 States….no Barry that’s how many varieties of ketsup Heinz makes not the number of U.S. states and territories. Small town America suffered as much under the ‘racist’ Clinton administration as it did under the two Bush administrations. Nope, wrong again according to Paul Krugman.

So yeah if you want a ‘progressive’ version of Bush in the office of the President keep on yelling ‘Why won’t the Bitch Quit!’

Is The Hill any better?

Well actually…..

That’s my next post. Doan miss it.

Fact not Fiction: Krugman vs. Galbraith…er…vs. versa….

May 10, 2008

I guess there is not doubt who the editors of The Economist favor, at least from the article’s title, but hey….This is a great exchange and the comments add to it. Clik on the opening para here to read the whole thing because I can assure you that discussions of who should be taxed and why, an important question with any doubt, will soon take a back seat to $8.00/gal. gas and trade balances….Not to mention the Pareto Distribution and ‘Complexity Economics’, a subject you will notice Paul and James tap-dance around pretty effectively:

‘Paul’s worldview rests on the belief that useful implications for important questions of public policy can be derived, essentially from first principles, with the help of a well-structured logic. Well-structured deduction from metaphysical first principles is the Krugman forte.

I don’t accept that much of use can be learned about policy in this way. When the world deviates from the principles, as it usually does, the simple lessons go astray. This is not a complaint against math. It is a complaint against indiscriminate application of the deductive method, sometimes called the Ricardian vice, to problems of human action. Mine is an old gripe against much of what professional economists do; not against science but against scientism, against the pretense of science. To combat it, I spend my research time wrestling with real-world data, and I spend much of my writing time warring against the policy ideas of aggressive, ahistorical deductivists.’

Whuh-oh…that bold by me….looks like James is gonna hand out some whup-ass for Paul. Actually, the whole thing is much more interesting than that.

Read it.

Here’s a real good idea from some of our activist pals….

May 8, 2008

I was asked to post this by Janet Flint and am glad to do so. If you look over in the right sidebar you will find a new box
labeled: Activist Central. We are going to be putting up links to folks who determined to change the corrupt, spineless anything for
some  greasy cash ‘Democrat’ Party into a progressive organization you and you children can use to build a better nation to live in.

Period.

No factionalism, just good old-fashioned grassroots work on the infrastructure of the party. I’ll be adding more links as we get going.
Feel free to suggest one to a group which wants to change how and what is done rather than the face on the packaging.

While the ‘Boyz on the Blogz’ rant and rave about Sister Beezlebub….

May 3, 2008

One blogger is turning out a level of commentary that you would think would be found in the NYT. Well, we all know why that’s never gonna happen but here…

Here’s some blogging as blogging ought to be. As T. Jefferson, of B. Franklin or S. Adams would have turned out if they lived today. Blogging so good that I, A.Citizen, confess to being slightly jealous. The opening paragraph:

‘When historians and political scientists look back at this election, they will not primarily be concerned with who won. The phenomenon to be explained will be the unhinged attacks upon Hillary Clinton (Sister Beezlebub) from the Left.’

Please read the rest it’s one of the most informative posts on why Clinton’s have had so much trouble, yeah I know he should have kept his dick in his pants but JFK got away with a lot more and paid no price, with their narrative and what it means in our culture. It’s all right here in: ‘The Whiteness of the Whale’ And yeah, she is referring to Melville. Eat your worm-infested heart out David Brooks.

Note: If you are not sure who the ‘Boyz on the Blogz’ are use teh Google or check my post: Censorship, The Committee of Three and a Warning from the Past.

Intoducing a Blogger I find to be very, very good….

April 21, 2008

She is to be found at: Anglachel’s Journal ‘You say I’m a bitch as if that were a bad thing…’ obviously a lady who is not…shy. She’s going on the blogroll, soon to be purged of sexist scumbags and other pests, but here’s an introductory post about….heh…..History….snort….yeah, one of my favorite subjects. Hey, read yer Santana.

‘Why am I so concerned about the way “radical” and “far left liberal” are being used in the blogs? First, I’m kind of pedantic when it comes to political definitions. These things mean something to me in a way they might not to ordinary readers. They have histories, they refer to specific modes of thought and action, and they are intended to have analytic power. More importantly, as I ended the last post, these labels have been used maliciously against Democrats by the Right in an attempt to distract voters from the core policies and actions of the party, measures that are far more harmful to Republican power than some upper-class idiot with too much time on his hands pretending he’s a “revolutionary” and killing people. It matters that we use language correctly and understand the various radical modes of action on the Left so that we can be effective radicals ourselves. In the current political environment, to promote humane, egalitarian and moderate policies is to be radical.’

Bold by me. Clik on thru and read the whole thing. She’s a very good writer indeed and comes to us from riverdaughter over at The Confluence which as you know, if you’ve been keeping track that is, is a blog resulting from the progressive radiation away from such cesspools ad dKos, TPM and OpenLeft. I’m really looking forward to reading more from her. Beats the sound of Barry sticking one of his feet in his mouth.

Flash Update: She, uppity bitch, defines Barry in terms of her Truman/Stephenson model. Sadly, Barry does not fare well here.

The Question of ‘What to Do About Professor Yoo’?

April 20, 2008

Today is our first meeting in meatspace about the the alleged criminal Yoo. Many have asserted he is a war criminal, so I believe, there is no question but that he has played a role in BushCo.’s attempt to negate the Geneva Convention and simultaneously insulate themselves from prosecuting under that set of international laws. Many have likened him to a mob lawyer cranking out whatever bogus motions or pleas it takes to keep his bosses out of jail. He has not yet been found guilty of anything but other facts and customs apply to his maintaining his position as Professor of Law at Boalt Hall Law School. I will report back what the group discussion is late today. Please study this post and the relevant links, making comments as you see fit, as the answer to my question is neither simple nor easy to achieve. But as I have already said to more than one commenter about this:

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.’

-Dietrich Bonhoeffer

My involvement with this issue goes back several years to when I found out that the despicable Yoo is a tenured Professor of Law at Boalt Hall Law School which is part of my alma mater the University of California at Berkeley. This fact I considered, and still do, a stain on my school’s reputation of which I generally am very proud. I have written on more than one occasion to the then Dean of Boalt and the President of the UC system asking that Yoo be sent packing. I have made it clear that I will not be receptive to any requests for help from the University until he is gone.

I have never received a single reply to my letters.
