Just keep in mind that according to it’s rules the Democratic Party despite what Obama and the corporatist press who so love him are acting like has not, in fact, elected a nominee. No voter by the delegates has been taken. None.

Latest reports have a haggard Howard Dean not looking very well and seeming to have lost quite a bit of weight. Obama was feeling good enough to play golf today as Russia invaded Georgia and McSame and The Hill were on the campaign trail. The HIll campaigning for Obama.

My personal opinion rendered without any satisfaction is that the wheels are going to come off the Convention ‘Unity Train’. There tension and actual hysteria are building. I’m not even going to report what some are saying the Obama campaign or it’s workers are doing. Not unless arrests are made…which is a possibility.

Old fashioned smash-mouth politics more akin to the 30s that ‘Yes we can!’ so hang on to yer TeeBee remote and stay tuned here also.

Flash Update: Here’s a little something I just tripped over…. So the next time I start ranting about what a lousy campaigner Barky is just think back to this little episode. Or you might find Tweety playing the tape and chortling about what a frikin’ Clown the Barkster is but that will not happen until he does become the nominee. If he does.

Using the same techniques he learned in the most corrupt political city in the nation Obama has almost squeeked out the nomination. But many are now raising their voices in protest. Asking why Senator Clinton’s name should not be put up for vote at the Denver Convention. Yep, Obama’s folk say no vote is needed, contrary to convention rules, that he is the winner. This without taking a vote.

WHAT KIND OF FACIST CRAP IS THAT! EVEN REPUBLICANS TAKE A VOTE! THEY DON’T COUNT ‘EM TRUE ENOUGH BUT THEY AT LEAST GO THRU THE CHARADE OF VOTING!

I guess we will see.

Just who shuts the fuck up and who keeps their trap shut for fear of giving offense or being labeled a racist. If you’ve swallowed enough Kool-Aide or are too scared to speak out then go ahead give up your right to be heard. You can still do what you like for a little while longer. You can be one of the silent ones.

But that ain’t gonna be me pals. I am going to shout it from the rooftops. ‘We need Obama for President like the country needs an outbreak of the plague!’

Way back when Edwards was still in the running I used to try and talk about this issue. Nobody cared. It was all about ID politics and the wonderfulness of a woman and a black man running for President. Well, we got that out of the way. Now what?

Are we gonna keep on with our ‘national dialogue about race..’ maybe tack on the word ‘gender’ to that? Before you all start clapping and cheering check this out:

48.7 to 35.7…..and beyond $4.00/gallon gasoline……

No issue I’ve discussed lately with my associates who do not follow politics much and to whom the vicious race between Obama and Clinton is just sort of a background murmur. Nothin’ to get excited about that’s for sure since, ‘All politicians are crooks and liars and such. But bring up the fact that….

…gas is over $4.00/gal and folks start talkin’ like they are ready for ‘The Revolution’.

Well…it’s great for me because I can then get these folk’s minds ticking over a little. The actual price of gas is a somewhat complicated issue to understand. Those two numbers in the title of this post? They have something to do with it fer sure…

Jane, spine of steel that woman has to be posting these clips in this atmosphere, shows us a variety of opinions on yesterday’s actions by the Democratic Party to ‘fix’ what is now being called ‘The ClusterFuck’. This first clip is  pretty much were I am at at the moment. Be sure, absolutely sure you watch the last one.

In one case, according to documents displayed by Pentagon auditors at the hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, a cash payment of $320.8 million in Iraqi money was authorized on the basis of a single signature and the words “Iraqi Salary Payment” on an invoice. In another, $11.1 million of taxpayer money was paid to IAP, an American contractor, on the basis of a voucher with no indication of what was delivered…

The disclosure that $1.8 billion in Iraqi assets was mishandled comes on top of an earlier finding by an independent federal oversight agency, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, that United States occupation authorities early in the conflict could not account for the disbursement of $8.8 billion in Iraqi oil money and seized assets.

A billion here, a billion there…

And then check this out:

The mysterious payments, whose amounts had not been publicly disclosed, included $68.2 million to the United Kingdom, $45.3 million to Poland and $21.3 million to South Korea. Despite repeated requests, Pentagon auditors said they were unable to determine why the payments were made.

“It sounds like the coalition of the willing is the coalition of the paid — they’re willing to be paid,” said Mr. Waxman

And some more details:

In one instance, a United States Treasury check for $5,674,075.00 was written to pay a company called Al Kasid Specialized Vehicles Trading Company in Baghdad for items that a voucher does not even describe.

In another case, $6,268,320.07 went to the contractor Combat Support Associates with even less explanation. And a scrawl on another piece of paper says only that $8 million had been paid out as “Funds for the Benefit of the Iraqi People.”

But perhaps the masterpiece of elliptic paperwork is the document identified at the top as a “Public Voucher for Purchases and Services Other Than Personal.” It indicates that $320.8 million went for “Iraqi Salary Payment,” with no explanation of what the Iraqis were paid to do.

Whatever it was, the document suggests, each of those Iraqis was handsomely compensated. Under the “quantity” column is the number 1,000, presumably indicating the number of people who were to be paid — to the tune of $320,800 apiece — if the paperwork is to be trusted.

“…if the paperwork is to be trusted.” Now that’s funny. But the joke’s on us.
