IHT: “95% of my platoon” wants withdrawal

The International Herald Tribune is reporting today that Sergeant First Class David Moore has begun to strongly advocate for the American military’s withdrawal from Iraq…basically ending out current illegal occupation of that country. His comments:

In 2003, 2004, 100 percent of the soldiers wanted to be here, to fight this war,” said Sergeant First Class David Moore, a self-described “conservative Texas Republican” and platoon sergeant who strongly advocates an American withdrawal. “Now, 95 percent of my platoon agrees with me.”

Staff Sergeant David Safstrom also admits that he no longer believes in the mission:

“I thought, ‘What are we doing here? Why are we still here?’ ” said Safstrom, a member of Delta Company of the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division. “We’re helping guys that are trying to kill us. We help them in the day. They turn around at night and try to kill us.”

His views are echoed by most of his fellow soldiers in Delta Company, renowned for its aggressiveness.

A small minority of Delta Company soldiers – the younger, more recent enlistees in particular – seem to still wholeheartedly support the war. Others are ambivalent, torn between fear of losing more friends in battle, longing for their families and a desire to complete their mission.

With few reliable surveys of soldiers’ attitudes, it is impossible to simply extrapolate from the small number of soldiers in Delta Company. But in interviews with more than a dozen soldiers over a one-week period, most said they were disillusioned by repeated deployments, by what they saw as the abysmal performance of Iraqi security forces and by a conflict that they considered a civil war, one they had no ability to stop.

I dont no who to believe, the facts that are presented quite clearly, say that this should become a civil war in america pretty fackin soon, im canadian and i feel completly back stabbed by the goverment i cant believe the american gov gives us such little respect i mean ” IM NOT STUPID” somtin is fackin fishy about this 9-11 attack why arent the american ppl doin somtin, i sware if i was in america i would go straight to the white house and start to protest, i say with the evidence is to clear to just walk away and do nothin SOMTIN needs to be done , even another investigation would help, i feel like the goverment is stabbin me in the back and laughin its fackin crazzy, im srry but this “if its true” its time to do somtin , WTF

ive ben watchin some videos online ,alot to do with terrorism, i watched supporting videos , pretty much saying the war in iraq is legit its for the better, and i watched other videos but none of them grabed my attention like the video called 9-11 ripple effect. Wow, is pretty much all i could say after watchin that video, they had so much evidence to prove that 9-11 was a scam that even myself became a little unpatristic, i feel after watchin that movie that the american goverment is lying, almost like a white lie, sayin its ok to go to war as long as their is a good reason, which would obviously be terrorism, but with this evidence shown to me i feel almost that it wasnt the terrorist who bombed the twin towers that it was the goverment, its a pretty perswasive movie, and i started thinkin if what they say is true that the war on terror is a big sham, then why, why would the goverment do it, just for oil. i know this seems weird but maybe they did this whole sham for the better of america in the long run ,for more resources and stuff , it would make the country more self reliant less money to give away for resources and vice versa, ( more money sellin resources) but still even if this is true why woudnt the gov just come straight forward and tell the people , we need more oil and , iraq has more oil and , lets go get that . Instead of tryin to make us believe that its terrorist’s,why not come straight forward and say somtin, and u know, now that ive watched this 9-11 ripple effect even if it is true its kinda late to do anything really because its bush’s last year in charge. so ……yea i say we need another investigation about this whole 9-11 hoot and holla, because if that video 9-11 ripple effect is bs the american goverment should start commin out with some reall hard evidence to prove it was terrorist and not a big shame , because ive watched videos online and so far most of them have ben about how the american gov, lied to their people, and if the american gov didnt lie about 9-11 and it was really terrorist then they should show some evidence to back up their “theory” about terrorism, or even try puttin this guy who came out with 9-11 ripple effect on ice er somtin, but it seems they dont even want to try , almost like their hoppin this whole big thing will blow over and everyone will forget. trust me i wont…. and if they take this off their blogs im gonna be upset because this is a reall important conversation right here its biggggggggggggg, and im not tryin to push any beliefs or anything on any one i am just an open minded person who has ben perswayed just a little,
