‘Brain Food Ver. 2.0 Kicks Off with:
Exposed: The Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Products and What’s at Stake for American Power.
Mark Shapiro of the Center for Investigative Reporting has written a blockbuster in his new book Exposed: The Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Products and What’s at Stake for American Power. I’ve read the book twice and have posted on it before.
Here’s a very little what the Economist had to say about the book:
‘A gripping new book by an American, Mark Schapiro, captures the change. When he began his research, he found firms resisting the notion that the American market would follow EU standards for items like cosmetics, insisting that their American products were already safe.’
What happened next wiped the smirk off President McChimpy’s chief negotiator’s smug phiz and foreshadows a whole new direction in government regulation of what companies can inject into the environment. You might be surprised at how things are working out.
Mark recently appeared on ‘Fresh Air’ to discuss his work and has been touring in support of it.
We’re excited to have him agree to be with us on Jan 14th, 2008 at Luka’s Taproom and Lounge. He’ll be there around 6 pm to meet and greet and we plan to have him talk briefly about this book starting at 7:30 pm. This will be followed by a question and answer session and then a book signing (books will be available for purchase at the venue).
We hope you will be able to attend. I’ll be posting more to keep interest up and we look for a typical good turnout for the latest episode of ‘Brain Food’.
